Executive Decree No. 44921-MH, which gradually reduces the selective consumption tax applied to various goods originally classified as luxury items, was published on March 25, 2025.
Main products benefiting from the tax reduction:
- Personal care and hygiene products such as detergents, liquid soaps, fabric softeners, shampoo, hair sprays, body deodorants, and shaving preparations
- Materials and equipment such as paints, varnishes, acrylics, used batteries for various applications, as well as electrical devices for motor ignition or startup and spark or compression ignition systems
Tax reduction implementation schedule:
- March 31: 17 products will begin a gradual reduction until reaching a 10% tax rate.
- June 30: 27 products will be exempt from the selective consumption tax.
- September 30: 16 products will begin a progressive reduction until reaching a 15% tax rate.
