James is a Managing Director leading the Securitization Tax division within the firm’s Capital Solutions Advisory Practice. He has 18 years of experience serving hedge funds, mutual funds, banking and insurance companies primarily with post settlement valuation analysis and tax consulting services in the mortgage and asset backed security market. James is well versed in the complexities on the taxation of all types of structured products (MBS, CMBS, ABS, CLO), spanning areas such as original issue discount, market discount and distressed debt.

• A focus on the taxation and regulatory reporting of mortgage and asset backed securities including REMICs and CLOs
• Provide excess inclusion income calculations for REMIC and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) CLO securitizations.
• Prepare PFIC and proforma Form 5471 for CLO securitizations organized as a foreign corporation.
• Extensive background in the design, development, testing and implementation of systems utilized to track and account for loans, debt instruments and securitization transactions
• Develop web-based systems and processes to account for IRC 1272(a)6 and the taxation and bond administration of asset-backed securities for both issuers and investors
