Leaders 2050’s latest survey asked young people in Denmark and around the globe what their perception was of progress within climate, sustainability and social impact and how empowered they felt to make a difference.

Our report reveals that young people in Denmark feel a large responsibility for driving forward a sustainable agenda and see climate-friendly initiatives as not just organisational ‘requirements, but also key elements that contribute to an organisation's bottom line. For example, participants felt they helped to establish a better working environment, and a way of attracting top talent.

Key findings

Young professionals in Denmark are much more likely to feel autonomy in their workplace to drive action (63%) compared to their global counterparts (45%).

81% of individuals surveyed feel a sense of professional responsibility for championing climate, sustainability, and social impact agendas.

3 out of 4 (75%) of participants consider a company’s ESG credentials when looking for a job.

Although there is a growing sense of responsibility, there is also a concern among the younger generation that the cost of decarbonization and lack of will by senior leadership to take action may pose significant challenges to their progress.

Through this survey, encompassing 259 professionals aged 18 to 35 in Denmark and 28 other countries, we aimed to uncover the obstacles and opportunities in harnessing the net zero potential of Denmark's young professionals.
