On the other hand, they themselves are required to utilise these technologies effectively internally in order to remain competitive in an enormously dynamic market.
But how are these companies currently managing this balancing act? How do they ensure that they are shaping rather than chasing developments? The use of generative AI harbours substantial economic potential for technology companies:
Up to 16 percent EBITDA growth is possible, in particular through increased productivity, automated risk monitoring, code optimisation and more efficient supply chains.
Five key AI trends are currently emerging that will affect many industries in the future: the emergence of new markets and ecosystems, accelerated product development, usage-based business models ("New SaaS"), human-agent collaboration and hybrid forms of organisation, which are already being used by 53% of companies.
It is also clear that trust is the decisive accelerator. Without a clear direction and safety precautions for the use of AI, any transformation will remain piecemeal, both internally and externally.
Three phases of AI transformation
With the "Enable, Embed and Evolve" guide, the report provides assistance for AI transformation in companies.
1. Enable - lay the foundations
Companies define an AI vision, appoint responsible parties, identify relevant use cases and promote AI expertise in a targeted manner. Initial pilot projects are launched on scalable platforms, and ethical and regulatory requirements are taken into account at an early stage.
2. Embed - Driving integration forward
AI is integrated into processes, products and services. Centralised management coordinates operating model adjustments, training and the establishment of trustworthy structures. AI agents, cloud architectures and modern governance mechanisms are used.
3. Evolve - Transforming business models
In the third phase, new ecosystems, business models and partnerships emerge. Companies use AI to rethink entire value creation systems.
