The 鈥淩enovate-Rent鈥� platform opens for tenants
The online platform for the 鈥淩enovate 鈥� Rent鈥� programme opened on Wednesday, 9 April at 12 p.m., allowing interested parties to submit applications for renting renovated apartments at affordable rents.
Eligible tenants under this Scheme are determined based on income criteria and household composition, provided that on the date of application, the applicant or their spouse/partner does not own another residential property.
Specifically, according to the family composition, the gross annual household income limits are set as follows:
- For a single person: up to 鈧�25,000
- For a couple or single-parent family with two members: up to 鈧�45,000
- For a family or single-parent family with three members: up to 鈧�50,000
- For a family or single-parent family with four members: up to 鈧�55,000
- For a family or single-parent family with five or more members: up to 鈧�65,000.
Applicants must be permanent residents of Cyprus or citizens of the European Union. They will also need a certificate from the Land Registry confirming that they do not own another residence and must meet the above income criteria.
The Scheme also provides grants ranging from 鈧�15,000 to 鈧�35,000 to owners of inactive residential units to renovate or upgrade them and make them available for affordable rent to eligible tenants.

Search/Verification for the purpose of submitting the Withholding Tax and Contributions Declaration (Form T.F.7) of the employees鈥� Tax Identification Number through the Taxpayers Portal (TAX PORTAL)
The Tax Department informs that a tool for the search/verification of the Tax Identification Number (TIN) of employees has been made available on the Taxpayers Portal ().
Through this tool, the employer can verify whether an employee is registered in the Tax Department's Registry by entering the ID card number or the Alien Registration Certificate (ARC) number and the date of birth.
It is noted that access to the tool is granted only to employers who:
鈥� have submitted at least one Employer鈥檚 Declaration (Form T.F.7), or
鈥� have made at least one payment of withheld tax (code 0100) for the period from 01/01/2021 onwards.

The Index of Production in Construction during the fourth quarter of 2024 reached 115,78 units (base year 2021=100,00), recording a decrease of 1,8% over the fourth quarter of 2023. For the period January-December 2024, the Index registered an increase of 3,5% compared to the corresponding period of 2023.
The Output Prices Index in Construction for the fourth quarter of 2024 reached 122,07 units (base year 2021=100,00), recording an increase of 1,2% relative to the third quarter of 2024. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the Index increased by 4,8%. For the period January-December 2024, the Index registered an increase of 4,5% over the corresponding period of 2023.

Fiscal Accounts of General Government: January-February 2025
The preliminary General Government fiscal results, which are prepared by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CYSTAT) indicate a surplus of 鈧�654,2 mn (1,9% of GDP) for the period of January-February 2025, as compared to a surplus of 鈧�531,7 mn (1,6% of GDP) that was recorded during the period of January-February 2024.
Revenue
During the period of January-February 2025, total revenue increased by 鈧�303,3 mn (+12,5%) and amounted to 鈧�2.724,6 mn, compared to 鈧�2.421,3 mn in the corresponding period of 2024.
In detail, taxes on production and imports increased by 鈧�92,5 mn (+12,4%) and amounted to 鈧�835,7 mn, compared to 鈧�743,2 mn in 2024, of which net VAT revenue increased by 鈧�35,8 mn (+6,8%) and amounted to 鈧�559,0 mn, compared to 鈧�523,2 mn in 2024. Revenue from taxes on income and wealth increased by 鈧�95,1 mn (+13,2%) and amounted to 鈧�816,8 mn, compared to 鈧�721,7 mn in 2024. Property income increased by 鈧�0,1 mn (+0,6%) and amounted to 鈧�13,0 mn, compared to 鈧�12,9 mn in 2024. Revenue from the sale of goods and services increased by 鈧�70,5 mn (+52,3%) and amounted to 鈧�205,3 mn, compared to 鈧�134,8 mn in 2024. Social contributions increased by 鈧�68,9 mn (+9,4%) and amounted to 鈧�802,9 mn, compared to 鈧�734,0 mn in 2024.
On the contrary, current transfers decreased by 鈧�17,5 mn (-26,4%) to 鈧�48,9 mn, from 鈧�66,4 mn in 2024. Capital transfers decreased by 鈧�6,3 mn (-75,9%) to 鈧�2,0 mn, from 鈧�8,3 mn in 2024.
Expenditure
During the period of January-February 2025, total expenditure increased by 鈧�180,8 mn (+9,6%) and amounted to 鈧�2.070,4 mn, compared to 鈧�1.889,6 mn in the corresponding period of 2024.
In detail, intermediate consumption increased by 鈧�12,7 mn (+6,6%) and amounted to 鈧�203,8 mn, compared to 鈧�191,1 mn in 2024. Compensation of employees (including imputed social contributions and pensions of civil servants) increased by 鈧�43,4 mn (+7,3%) and amounted to 鈧�637,6 mn, compared to 鈧�594,2 mn in 2024. Social benefits increased by 鈧�71,5 mn (+9,1%) and amounted to 鈧�861,0 mn, compared to 鈧�789,5 mn in 2024. Interest payable increased by 鈧�6,6 mn (+10,3%) and amounted to 鈧�70,6 mn, compared to 鈧�64,0 mn in 2024. Subsidies increased by 鈧�1,7 mn (+20,7%) and amounted to 鈧�9,9 mn, compared to 鈧�8,2 mn in 2024.
The capital account increased by 鈧�48,9 mn (+49,5%) and amounted to 鈧�147,7 mn, compared to 鈧�98,8 mn in 2024, of which gross capital formation increased by 鈧�10,1 mn (+10,1%) and amounted to 鈧�110,1 mn, compared to 鈧�100,0 mn in 2024.
On the contrary, current transfers decreased by 鈧�4,0 mn (-2,8%) to 鈧�139,8 mn, from 鈧�143,8 mn in 2024.

Foreign Trade Statistics: January 2025 (final data) and February 2025 (provisional data)
February 2025: Provisional data
Total imports of goods in February 2025 were 鈧�1.027,2 mn as compared to 鈧�863,7 mn in February 2024, recording an increase of 18,9%. Imports from other EU Member States were 鈧�560,8 mn and from third countries 鈧�466,4 mn, compared to 鈧�566,6 mn and 鈧�297,1 mn respectively in February 2024. Imports in February 2025 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels, with total value of 鈧�2,7 mn as compared to 鈧�2,5 mn in February 2024.
Total exports of goods in February 2025 were 鈧�476,4 mn as compared to 鈧�274,1 mn in February 2024, recording an increase of 73,8%. Exports to other EU Member States were 鈧�117,4 mn and to third countries 鈧�359,0 mn, compared to 鈧�117,2 mn and 鈧�156,9 mn respectively in February 2024. Exports in February 2025 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels, with total value of 鈧�78,2 mn as compared to 鈧�51,4 mn in February 2024.
Total imports of goods in January鈥揊ebruary 2025 amounted to 鈧�2.160,7 mn as compared to 鈧�1.730,7 mn in January鈥揊ebruary 2024, recording an increase of 24,8%. Total exports of goods in January-February 2025 were 鈧�913,3 mn compared to 鈧�586,0 mn in January-February 2024, registering an increase of 55,9%. The trade deficit was 鈧�1.247,4 mn in January鈥揊ebruary 2025 compared to 鈧�1.144,7 mn in the corresponding period of 2024.
January 2025: Final data
Total imports of goods amounted to 鈧�1.133,5 mn in January 2025 as compared to 鈧�867,0 mn in January 2024, recording an increase of 30,7%.
Exports of domestically produced products, including stores and provisions, were 鈧�365,1 mn in January 2025 as compared to 鈧�143,6 mn in January 2024, recording an increase of 154,2%.
Domestic exports of industrial products, excluding stores and provisions, were 鈧�352,9 mn in January 2025 compared to 鈧�134,2 mn in January 2024. Domestic exports of agricultural products, excluding stores and provisions, were 鈧�11,1 mn in January 2025 compared to 鈧�8,4 mn in January 2024.
Exports of foreign products, including stores and provisions, were 鈧�71,8 mn in January 2025 as compared to 鈧�168,2 mn in January 2024, recording a decrease of 57,3%.

Registration of Motor Vehicles: January-March 2025
The Statistical Service announces the publication of the report entitled "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for the period January-March 2025.
In March 2025, the total registrations of motor vehicles numbered 4.422, recording an increase of 4,3% compared to 4.238 in March 2024. Passenger saloon cars registered a rise of 5,7% to 3.504, from 3.316 in March 2024.
The main developments during the period January-March 2025 compared to the corresponding period of 2024 are summarised as follows:
(a) The total registrations of motor vehicles decreased by 4,5% to 12.256 in January-March 2025, from 12.827 in January-March 2024.
(b) Passenger saloon cars decreased to 9.585 from 10.189 in January-March 2024, recording a fall of 5,9%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 4.448 or 46,4% were new and 5.137 or 53,6% were used cars. Rental cars in particular recorded a rise of 13,1% to 1.027.
(c) The share of petrol powered passengers鈥� cars to the total of this category of vehicles decreased in January-March 2025 to 43,2% (from 49,2% in the corresponding period of the preceding year) and that of diesel powered cars to 9,0% in 2025 from 9,9% in 2024. On the other hand, the share of electric cars rose from 3,8% in 2024 to 4,9% in 2025 and of hybrid cars from 37,2% to 42,9%.
(d) Motor coaches and buses registered in January-March 2025 decreased to 38, from 64 in the same period of 2024.
(e) Goods conveyance vehicles increased by 0,2% to 1.448 in January-March 2025, compared to 1.445 in January-March 2024. In particular, light goods vehicles increased by 4,7% to 1.203, while heavy goods vehicles decreased by 1,3% to 150, road tractors (units of trailers) by 10,2% to 44 and rental vehicles by 46,3% to 51.
(f) Mopeds < 50cc registered in January-March 2025 decreased to 60 compared to 240 in the corresponding period of the previous year.
(g) Mechanised cycles > 50cc increased by 33,8% to 973 in January-March 2025, compared to 727 in the same period of 2024.
