Submission of Company Income Tax Return (韦.桅.4) and Self-Employed Individuals with Obligation to Prepare Accounts (韦.桅.1 位慰纬.) for the year 2022, without the Imposition of Financial Penalties, until 31 May 2025
The Tax Department informs that, according to the Laws on the Certification and Collection of Taxes (), the deadline for submitting the Income Tax Return for Companies (韦.桅.4) and Self-Employed Individuals with the obligation to prepare Accounts (韦.桅.1 位慰纬.) for the 2022 tax year was 31 March 2024.
However, it is clarified that, based on a decision from the Commissioner of Taxation, no financial penalties will be imposed if the above-mentioned returns are submitted by 31 May 2025.
Submission of the returns after 31 May 2025, will result in a financial penalty of 鈧�100 for late submission.

Deadline for Submission of the Company Income Tax Return and Summary Table of Controlled Transactions for the Year 2022 鈥� Imposition of Administrative Penalty and Financial Surcharge
The Tax Department informs that, according to a Decree of the Council of Ministers () dated 8/11/2024, 28 February 2025, is the final deadline for the timely submission of:
a) The Income Tax Return for the Tax Year 2022 by a person who, based on the provisions of Article 33(10) of the Income Tax Law N118(I)/2002, as amended, is required to submit a Summary Table of Controlled Transactions; and
b) The Summary Table of Controlled Transactions (according to paragraph 5(a) of K.D.P. 314/2022) for the year 2022.
It is clarified, however, that by decision of the Tax Commissioner, no financial surcharges will be imposed, provided that compliance with the above tax obligations occurs by 31 May 2025.
Submission after 31 May 2025, will result in the imposition of an administrative penalty and financial surcharge as follows:
- An administrative penalty of 鈧�500 for the late submission of the Summary Table of Controlled Transactions for the tax year 2022.
- A financial surcharge of 鈧�100 for the late submission of the Company Income Tax Return for the tax year 2022.

Registration of Motor Vehicles: January 2025
The Statistical Service announces the publication of the report entitled "Registration of Motor Vehicles" for January 2025.
The main developments in January 2025 compared to the corresponding month of 2024 are summarised as follows:
(a) In January 2025, the total registrations of motor vehicles numbered 4.077 from 4.243 in January 2024, recording a decrease of 3,9%.
(b) Passenger saloon cars decreased to 3.176 from 3.430 in January 2024, recording a fall of 7,4%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 1.565 or 49,3% were new and 1.611 or 50,7% were used cars.
(c) The share of petrol powered passengers鈥� cars to the total of this category of vehicles decreased in January 2025 to 42,4% from 48,7% in the corresponding month of the preceding year, as well as the share of diesel powered cars to 8,1% in 2025 from 10,3% in 2024. On the other hand, the share of electric cars rose from 2,4% in 2024 to 5,6% in 2025 and of hybrid cars from 38,7% to 43,9%.
(d) Motor coaches and buses registered in January 2025 decreased to 7, from 14 in the same month of 2024.
(e) Goods conveyance vehicles increased by 8,9% to 479 in January 2025, compared to 440 in January 2024. In particular, light goods vehicles increased by 14,7% to 405, heavy goods vehicles by 4,3% to 48, road tractors (units of trailers) by 6,7% to 16, while rental vehicles decreased by 61,5% to 10.
(f) Mopeds < 50cc registered in January 2025 increased to 21 compared to 18 in the corresponding month of the previous year.
(g) Mechanised cycles > 50cc increased by 21,0% to 340 in January 2025, compared to 281 in the same month of 2024.

Total imports of goods in December 2024 were 鈧�1.314,3 mn as compared to 鈧�954,1 mn in December 2023, recording an increase of 37,8%. Imports from other EU Member States were 鈧�662,7 mn and from third countries 鈧�651,6 mn, compared to 鈧�595,0 mn and 鈧�359,1 mn respectively in December 2023. Imports in December 2024 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels and aircrafts, with total value of 鈧�372,5 mn as compared to 鈧�4,8 mn in December 2023.
Total exports of goods in December 2024 were 鈧�359,0 mn as compared to 鈧�392,4 mn in December 2023, recording a decrease of 8,5%. Exports to other EU Member States were 鈧�88,0 mn and to third countries 鈧�271,0 mn, compared to 鈧�92,9 mn and 鈧�299,5 mn respectively in December 2023. Exports in December 2024 include the transfer of economic ownership of vessels, with total value of 鈧�41,4 mn as compared to 鈧�100,1 mn in December 2023.

Government Employment by category: January 2025
In January 2025 total government employment increased by 461 persons (0,8%) in comparison to the corresponding month of 2024 and reached 55.107 persons. Employment in the Civil and Educational Service increased by 0,4% 魏伪喂 3,3% respectively, whereas employment in the Security Forces decreased by 1,6%.
In January 2025 in the Civil Service there were 12.003 permanent employees, 4.173 employees with contracts of indefinite duration, 1.353 employees with contracts of definite duration and 5.685 hourly paid workers. Permanent employees represented the highest percentage of total employees in the Civil Service (51,7%) and employees with contracts of definite duration represented the lowest percentage (5,8%).
In the Educational Service there were 12.456 permanent employees, 953 employees with contracts of indefinite duration, 4.641 employees with contracts of definite duration and 141 hourly paid workers. Permanent employees represented the highest percentage of total employees in the Educational Service (68,5%) and hourly paid workers represented the lowest percentage (0,8%).
In Security Forces there were 8.273 permanent employees, 4.400 employees with contracts of indefinite duration, 291 employees with contracts of definite duration and 738 hourly paid workers. Permanent employees represented the highest percentage of total employees in Security Forces (60,4%) and employees with contracts of definite duration represented the lowest percentage (2,1%).

Monthly Economic Developments: January-December 2024
The Statistical Service announces the publication of the bimonthly bulletin 芦Monthly Economic Developments禄 for the period January鈥揇ecember 2024. The bulletin includes the most important economic developments for the Cyprus Economy, for the latest months up to December 2024, as well as comparative data for the last four years, which were available until the 11th of February 2025.
Manufacturing Production during the period January-November 2024 recorded an increase of 1,8% compared to January-November 2023.
The total area of Building Permits Authorized reached 1.722,0 thousand square metres during the period January-August 2024, recording an increase of 18,0% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The total Registrations of Motor Vehicles increased by 9,1%, reaching to 49.616 during the period January-December 2024. Private saloon cars increased to 34.254, recording a rise of 11,2% and light goods vehicles increased to 4.638 recording a rise of 36,1% compared to January-December 2023.
The Consumer Price Index increased by 1,8% during the period January-December 2024, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The total Imports of Goods reached 鈧�12.256,1 mn during the period January鈥揇ecember 2024, recording a decrease of 7,0% and total Exports of Goods reached 鈧�4.121,8 mn, recording also a decrease of 12,5%.
The Arrivals of Tourists totaled 4.040.200 during the period January-December 2024, compared to 3.845.652 in the corresponding period of 2023, recording an increase of 5,1%.

Supply, Use and Input-Output Tables: 2021
The Statistical Service announces the publication of the Supply, Use and Input-Output tables of Cyprus, for the year 2021 in current prices and in previous year prices. It is noted that the data for the year 2020 has been revised.
For the year 2021, total supply and use at purchasers鈥� prices are balanced at 鈧�77.758,9 mn. Business services account for 47,1% of total supply, followed by manufacturing products 24,8% and distribution & transport services 10,3%. The share of other services in total supply is 9,2%, of construction works 7,0% and of agriculture, forestry & fishing products 1,6%.
Total domestic production in basic prices is 鈧�53.391,0 mn in 2021, total imports 鈧�21.484,7 mn and net taxes on products 鈧�2.883,2 mn.
The domestic production accounts for 68,7% of total supply, imports for 27,6% and net taxes for 3,7%. Imports have a particularly large share (44,4%) of total supply of manufacturing products. Net taxes on products have a higher share in the supply of manufacturing products (8,7%) and construction works (7,9%), than in the other product categories.
Total intermediate consumption is 鈧�30.594,2 mn in 2021. Total final consumption is 鈧�20.385,5 mn, gross capital formation is valued at 鈧�5.104,2 mn and total exports at 鈧�21.675,1 mn.
Intermediate consumption has the largest share (39,3%) in total use. The second largest share of total use is exports (27,9%), followed by final consumption (26,2%) and gross capital formation (6,6%). Intermediate consumption makes up the majority of total use of agriculture, forestry and fishing products (52,6%), manufacturing products (38,7%) and business services (43,9%). Final consumption is the main use of other services (88,2%), with the rest distributed mostly between intermediate consumption and exports. The supply of construction works is mostly used as gross capital formation (55,6%), closely followed by intermediate consumption (43,5%). Distribution and transport services are mostly exported (48,9%), with their next most important use being intermediate consumption (44,2%).
The Gross Value Added (GVA) at basic prices is calculated by deducting intermediate consumption at purchasers鈥� prices from domestic production at basic prices. To reach the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at market prices, taxes less subsidies on products are added to GVA at basic prices.

Building permits: September 2024
The Statistical Service announces that the number of building permits authorized during September 2024 stood at 423 compared to 612 in September 2023. The total value of these permits reached 鈧�160,5 million and the total area 129,1 thousand square metres. These building permits provide for the construction of 706 dwelling units.
During the period January 鈥� September 2024, 5.485 building permits were issued compared to 5.274 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording an increase of 4,0%. The total value of these permits increased by 8,9% and the total area by 10,6%. The number of dwelling units recorded an increase of 10,0%.
The noteworthy decrease in the number of building permits issued in September 2024 is to a large extent the result of the transfer as from the 1st July 2024 of the authority of issuing building permits from the municipalities and the district administration offices to the newly founded Local Government Organisations (LGOs) and the problems encountered in the operation of the new integrated information system 鈥淚ppodamos鈥�.
