150 euros fine to companies for delivering late the annual report
The Plenary approved a proposal amending the Law on Companies, so that the upper limit of the total financial burden imposed on a company, in case it fails to deliver its annual report to the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property within the prescribed period, is reduced from five hundred euros (鈧�500) valid today, to one hundred and fifty euros (鈧�150).
The necessity of the proposed regulation arises from the inability of a large number of small and medium enterprises to respond in time to the submission of the annual report.
This is because along with it, they have to submit each company's audited accounts for the year preceding the year of filing the annual report, the preparation of which is often completed after the deadline for filing the annual report.
Because of this, companies are led to late filing of their annual reports and consequently suffer the financial burden.

Building permits: November 2023
The Statistical Service announces that the number of building permits authorized by the municipal authorities and the district administration offices during November 2023 stood at 677. The total value of these permits reached 鈧�255,3 million and the total area 214,4 thousand square metres. These building permits provide for the construction of 1.097 dwelling units.
During the period January 鈥� November 2023, 6.583 building permits were issued compared to 6.986 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a decrease of 5,8%. The total value of these permits increased by 16,7% and the total area by 3,9%. The number of dwelling units recorded an increase of 12,5%.
Building permits constitute a leading indicator of future activity in the construction sector.

The GDP growth rate in real terms during the fourth quarter of 2023 is positive and it is estimated at 2,1% over the corresponding quarter of 2022. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted data, GDP growth rate in real terms is estimated at 2,3%.
The positive GDP growth rate is mainly attributed to the sectors: "Hotels and Restaurants", "Transport and Storage", "Wholesale and Retail Trade, Repair of Motor Vehicles", "Information and Communication", "Construction", "Arts, Entertainment and Recreation" and "Other Service Activities".

Monthly economic indicators: January-December 2023
The Statistical Service announces the publication of the bimonthly bulletin 芦Monthly Economic Indicators禄 for the period January 鈥� December 2023. The bulletin includes the most important short-term economic indicators for the Cyprus Economy, for the latest months up to December 2023, as well as comparative data for the last four years, which were available until the 14th of February 2024.
The Manufacturing sector during the period January-November 2023, recorded an increase of 3,3% compared to January-November 2022.
The total area of Building Permits Authorized reached 2.091,5 thousand square metres during the period January鈥揘ovember 2023, recording an increase of 3,9% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The total registrations of Motor Vehicles increased by 34,6%, reaching to 45.494 during the period January-December 2023. Private saloon cars increased to 30.807, recording a rise of 38,2% and light goods vehicles increased to 3.409 recording a rise of 8,2% compared to January-December 2022.
The Consumer Price Index increased by 3,5% during the period January-December 2023, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
The total Imports of Goods reached 鈧�12.764,2 mn during the period January鈥揇ecember 2023, recording an increase of 11,3% and total Exports of Goods reached 鈧�4.189,5 mn, recording a decrease of 0,5%.
The Arrivals of Tourists totaled 3.845.652 during the period January-December 2023, compared to 3.201.080 in the corresponding period of 2022, recording an increase of 20,1%.
